Graduate Student Association

Welcome to the Graduate Student Association!

What are we about?

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is a group of students who advise the Vice President of Student Life and the Academic Vice President on matters of graduate education.  We aim to be channels of student concerns and to suggest improvement to graduate education and graduate student life at Gonzaga University. We also handle funding for academic pursuits for graduate students from all departments, and we allocate funds to help cover orientations and social events. Our goal is to help the graduate student body at Gonzaga University be successful in their endeavors and a vibrant part of the GU community.

Who can participate?

GSA is open to all registered graduate students at Gonzaga University. Deans of the College of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Professional Students and the English Language Center will appoint a representative from each graduate program within their school who will have voting privileges. Ideally, GSA members will serve a 1-2 year commitment. If for any reason, a GSA member is unable to continue on GSA, the member will be responsible for orienting their replacement to membership on GSA.

When do we meet?

GSA usually convenes at least one meeting per month from October thru April. Each meeting is about 1-2 hours long.  At the initial meeting of the year, the representatives from the Administration will submit proposed agenda items for the upcoming year. Each agenda item must be approved by a 2/3 vote from the GSA council. Members of GSA may also propose agenda items to be addressed.
