ACE: UNIV 120 First World of Knowing
This course specifically focuses on Self Knowledge--to know self as a multicultural being, as a leader, and as a community activist, as well as to know your Medicine Wheel: the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual dimensions of your personhood.
ACE: UNIV 121 Second World of Knowing
This course specifically focuses on Content Knowledge--to know the issues in diversity education and to understand the socio-political context of diversity and social justice issues. Also to know and understand the nature and causes of prejudice, racism, sexism, homophobia, and other types of oppression, as well as to identify politics, stereotyping, white privilege and the nature of power. It helps to explain and bring understanding of effective practices in multicultural education and strategies for prevention and intervention (mediation, conflict resolution).
ACE: UNIV 200 Third World of Knowing
This course specifically focuses on Facilitation Knowledge--to know how to lead the context of a small group through diversity training content, how to facilitate transformative group discussion processes, and to know effective strategies on how to resolve conflict.
ACE: UNIV 201 Fourth World of Knowing
This course specifically focuses on Practical Knowledge---to learn by doing service. This course covers how to obtain practical field experience in diversity training environments within the Gonzaga community and in the City of Spokane, as well as how to do the planning, organizing, and implementation of cultural educational events.
