Keynote -- Deadly Persuasion: Advertising & Addiction
What are the questions we should ask ourselves about the relationship of media images to actual problems in the society, such as violence, the sexual abuse of children, rape and sexual harassment, pornography and censorship, teenage pregnancy, addiction, and eating disorders? How is sexism promoted in magazines, videos, music and video games? What questions should we be asking regarding our own attitudes and actions that inadvertently perpetuate sexism and violence, and how can we work towards changing them?
