The Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media Award for Excellence in Media Literacy
The Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media was formed to address the issue of media impact on our culture and specifically on our youth. Many other members of our community have taken on similar responsibilities and they deserve recognition for their efforts. On April 18, 2007, the Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media plan to honor a local contributor for their efforts in the movement for media literacy excellence.
Nomination requires that the nominee meet one or more of the following requirements:
- Organizes and Educates our Community (Inland Northwest) about Media Literacy and Media Responsibility
- Empowers Youth and Adults to Become Critical Consumers of Media
- Encourages Media to Act as Responsible, Effective Stewards of this Critical Public Trust
- Counteracts the Effects of Media on our Community and Culture
- Promotes and Disseminates Research on Media Effects and Media Literacy
- Explores Positive Solutions Regarding the Influence of Media Violence in the Lives of our Children
- Plans and Develops Effective Resolutions to the Issues of Media Literacy
- Works with Media to Enhance the Health and Development of our Community
- Educates about Gender Issues in the Media
