Reading Between the Lines: Communication Problem or Paradigm Shift?
Computer mediated communication (email, chat, text) dominates today's business communication. Although it provides an almost instant response, taking these text-based messages at face value is risky. Without the non-verbal signals we rely on to de-code these messages, the assumptions we make often have catastrophic results. For leaders, these communication blunders become the social equivalent of the Trojan Horse. Participants will briefly explore some existing communication theories and discuss real life professional scenarios affected by text-based digital communication.
