Four-Year Summer Study Plan

The four-year program assumes that students attend both the regular six-week summer term and the two-week summer term.
Year One.
Summer II, six week term: three courses including two core courses (recommended: DPLS 700 Leadership Theory and DPLS 720 Principles of Research) and/or another course (recommended required course DPLS 745 Leadership and Personal Ethics).
Fall and Spring Terms: one independent directed course for three credits.
Year Two.
Summer II, six week term: three courses including two core courses (recommended: DPLS 701 Organizational Theory and DPLS 703 Policy Analysis and Global Systems) and another course (recommended any required course such as an ethics course or either research methods course).
Application for candidacy and agreement with advisor on candidacy questions before the end of the summer term.Fall and Spring Terms: two independent directed courses for total of six credits. Completion of the candidacy paper. Advance to candidacy before the next summer term begins.
Year Three
Fall and Spring Terms: independent directed course for three credits and Literature Review for the Dissertation for three credits.
Year Four
Summer II, six-week term: DPLS 735 Proposal Seminar. If the proposal is not defended (DPLS 735 Proposal Defense ) by the end of the summer, trip during the school year for proposal defense may be needed.
Fall and Spring Terms: research and writing of the dissertation, six dissertation credits
(DPLS 736/737 Dissertation).
