Computer access and use
The Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies uses various computer technology to facilitate delivery of its coursework. For this reason, doctoral students are expected to have both access to computers and software as well as certain skills using computers. All Gonzaga students can gain access to university computers and the necessary software through the library and computer labs on campus.
Doctoral students are expected to have mastered an intermediate level of skills using electronic communication and tools. This includes being able to navigate the internet, manipulate documents for upload, download, and printing, use of internet forms, e-mail, e-mail attachments, research databases, basic knowledge of using Microsoft Power Point is useful and advanced knowledge of manipulating Microsoft Word templates is essential. Students who do not possess these skills will be expected to acquire them of their own accord.
The DPLS program makes use of various electronic platforms, resources, and documents to communication with students and facilitate coursework including and not limited to:

Zagweb - the university system that allows you to register for classes over the Internet.

Blackboard - the university platform for providing, organizing, and facilitating classroom learning via the Internet. Your login and password information is as a rule the same you can use to log on to university computers on campus.

Zagmail - the university email system which is often used as a default email address for students.

Listserv - The doctoral mailing list server or "the listserv" - an email based tool used to make announcements.

RefWorks - an online resource and database for storing and organizing reference information in the research process. Students are strongly urged to become familiar with RefWorks and the library resources at the onset of their study program.

Foley Library Databases - students will use the databases available through the library to perform research.
- Facebook - DPLS has a Facebook account, a group, and a page for the calendar of events.
- Twitter - the DPLS calendar of events on Facebook is linked to twitter.
- Google Groups - faculty and students occasionally use Google Groups to coordinate collaborative project efforts.
- survey monkey - students and faculty occasionally use survey monkey to conduct internal surveys. The site can also be used for dissertation research if needed
