Certification and Approved Editors
Certification by DPLS Approved Editors Employed by Students
The certification is to be attached to (a) the dissertation proposal before the committee signs the proposal approval form and (b) the dissertation before the committee signs the dissertation. If the committee recommends changes to the document at the time of the signing of the dissertation, a new certification must be submitted before the dissertation is sent to the Dean.

Becoming an Approved Editor
Attend an introduction session on using the template
From time to time the Program conducts introduction sessions that cover the use to the template and DPLS exceptions to APA 6. These sessions are open to student and anyone wanting to be an editor. To receive notification concerning schedules, please email Marnie Broughton at <broughton@gonzaga.edu>. The next introduction session is scheduled for June 23, 9:00 to noon. Please let Marnie know if you are planning to attend.
Practice
Download the practice file TestFileNA. Download the instructions for editing the test files. Drop TestFileNA into the template and edit. Compare your results with the TestFileNAEdited. Note that TestFileNA was so poorly written, that editing could only begin the revisions process. Even after editing, TestFileNA remains poorly written and is not an example of what is expected in Program papers. Editors should not rewrite papers but can make suggestions that the author of the paper can use to learn ways to improve their work.
