Welcome to COML 517 On-Campus Residency
This course is designed to merge theory and praxis and provide practical application of communication knowledge and action with a focus in public speaking, group processes writing and multi-media products. There are no texts required.

A Day in the Life
Class will run from approximately 8am to 5pm on all 3 days. You will need to plan your arrival and departure accordingly. On the last day you will be involved in group multimedia presentations beginning at 3:30pm so leaving early to catch a flight is not possible. This is an intensive so you will be busy all day. There will be one hour each day for lunch. Lunch is not hosted. We will host a dinner on the second evening in which we invite you to bring guests that may be traveling with you. Children are welcome too! Dress is casual. You will be doing quite a bit of walking so wear comfortable shoes. It is typically always cool here in the morning and evenings so be sure to bring a coat/jacket and dress in layers.
BEFORE your arrival on campus you must go on Blackboard as there is course related work that will require your attention. COML 517 begins the first day of each session as a regular class would, NOT on the first day of your arrival on campus so please be sure to check in on Blackboard the first day of the session.
ACCOMMODATIONS
This list includes the current rates for several hotels that are in walking distance. Please note these rates are single occupancy and do not include tax. During the summer session on-campus housing is available. Contact information for on-campus housing will be provided closer to the summer session. There in no campus housing available during the Fall or Spring sessions.
I have provided a sample syllabus for you to review so that you can feel comfortable with the expectations of the course. Please keep in mind that this is a sample and is subject to minor changes for each individual session.
