M.A. in Leadership and Administration Program
The Master of Arts in Leadership and Administration is designed to prepare educators for leadership roles in schools and related settings. Students focus on research based knowledge and skills, which allow them to expand their practice of leadership skills. The program is available in two specialization options.Total Credits-34
Teacher Leadership Specialization
Leadership Courses - (15 credits)
Role Specific Courses -(12 Credits)
The cohort group, in dialogue with the academic advisor, selects from a series of courses that will most appropriately meet his/her career needs. Examples include:
Research/Program Exit Courses- (7 credits)
- EDLA 540 Ethical Dimensions in Ed. -- 3 credits
- EDLA 546 Adv. Learning Strategies -- 3 credits
- EDLA 553 Teaching Thinking Skills -- 3 credits
- EDLA 565 Educational Evaluation -- 3 credits
- EDLA 597 Instructional Practicum-- 3 credits
- EDLA 623 Risk and Protective Factors -- 3 credits
- EDLA 695 Professional Experience -- 3 credits
It is expected that the masters degree candidate in the MALA program will identify a relevant leadership topic of his/her choice for academic inquiry in this phase of the program. The candidate completes and presents the final paper under the direction of the academic advisor. A final comprehensive review, including portfolio presentation, completes the capstone experience.
