Additional Information

  • Students develop a personal theory of counseling and apply it through practicum and internships.
  • Students work collaboratively over the two year program in a cohort model, where they attend the same classes together. This structure amplifies the learning process, as students absorb and apply information with their colleagues.
  • The burgeoning counselor grows in both knowledge and insight into the history and current practice of counseling. Students build a solid knowledge base through strong research-based learning opportunities.
  • A professional portfolio, developed throughout the two year program, documents the competence of the school counselor.
  • Graduates receive a Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification.
