Brief Biography

Ryan specializes in international finance, monetary policy, and econometrics.  His research studies the effects of domestic savings on economic growth, the relationship between saving rates, population aging, and economic growth, and current account stability. He joined the department in 2009 after completing his PhD at the University of Oregon in 2008. He primarily teaches principles and intermediate macroeconomics, money and banking, and managerial economics. He has also taught as a lecturer at University of Oregon and Northwest Christian College.
