AmericanPhilosophical Association The largest and oldestprofessional philosophy organization in the US is a central sourcefor information on matters philosophical (and membership is a greatdeal for students). The APA hosts national conferences three timeseach year: on the East Coast (held in late December betweenChristmas and New Year's), on the West Coast (held in late March),and in the Central US (held in early May). The website alsoincludes info about Philosophy Departments in the US and (formembers) a searchable database of philosophers.
Society ofChristian Philosophers Sponsors of regional philosophyconferences and of sessions at the national APA meetings, the SCPpublishes the journal Faith and Philosophy.
Philosophy Encyclopedias
Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy Acollection of entries on philosophical topics and figures whichoffers a helpful starting point for orientation. The site alsoincludes a timeline of well-known philosophers (with biographies)and a collection of electronic philosophical texts.
StanfordEncyclopedia of Philosophy A dymanic (that is,constantly updated) encyclopedia on topics and figures inphilosophy produced and maintained by scholars in philosophy. Whilethe encyclopedia is currently "in progress," many of the completedentries are quite extensive, and some feature links to relatedmaterial on the internet.
