Mark Alfino teaches for the Philosophy Department and the Department of Organizational Leadership at Gonzaga University. His teaching and research interests are broad, but tend to focus on two general problems: the nature of language and the nature of values. As a philosopher of language, Dr. Alfino writes about the role of rhetoric in interpersonal and cultural communication.
In addition to these research interests, Dr. Alfino is a speaker and consultant on Information Ethics, Professional Ethics, Critical Thinking, & Organizational Ethics for organizations interested in continuous quality improvement.
Dr. Mark Alfino has been a member of the Philosophy Faculty at Gonzaga University since 1989.

Kirk Besmer received his Ph.D.from the University of Notre Dame. His interests include Continental philosophy, especially Phenomenology and Existentialism, and the philosophy of technology. He recently published Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology: The Problem of Ideal Objects with Continuum Press.

My teaching and research interests are in ancient Greek philosophy, especially Socratic method, philosophical anthropology/human nature, Christian existentialism, and philosophy of education.

Jay received his BA in Philosophy and History from Cal State, Chico (1982), and his MA and PhD in Philosophy from Tulane University (1991). He regularly teaches courses in African Philosophy and Healthcare Ethics. Â He also serves as an Ethics Consultant to the Spokane Community Long-term Care Ethics Committee. Â HIs publications include articles on Heidegger and African Philosophy, as well as a book entitled Max Weber and the Problems of Value-free Social Science.Â

Ted received both his B.A. (1986) and M.A. (1988) in philosophy from Northern Illinois University, and his Ph.D. from Marquette University in 1999. His primary research interests are currently in modern philosophy, particularly the theoretical philosophy of Kant, but he also has research interests in existentialist thinkers and ancient philosophy. He is currently the Director of the Philosophy department's M.A. program.

Brian Henning's scholarship and teaching focuses on the interconnections among ethics, metaphysics, and aesthetics.
His first systematic exploration of these interconnections was developed in: The Ethics of Creativity: Beauty, Morality, and Nature in a Processive Cosmos.
He teaches courses on environmental philosophy, moral philosophy, American philosophy, metaphysics, and the history of philosophy.
