The Gonzaga University Sociology Department granted its first degree in the 1920s. From that beginning, the department has gone on to grant undergraduate and graduate degrees to over 500 people. Many have gone on to distinguished academic careers of research and teaching, while others have made lasting contributions in evaluation and public policy. As citizens, they are recognized for their contributions to their communities, states, the nation, and various parts of the world. Many make their careers in one-on-one interactions, improving sociological understanding and building social change through critical thinking one person at a time.

We urge our alumni to use this new space (inaugurated Fall 2010) to tell us about you -- even boast a little. We also hope you will remember that the Gonzaga University Sociology Department is part of your life for the rest of your life, and we hope you take pride in your roots in this institution.

We want our alumni to stay connected to the people and events in our department and at GU. For Sociology news go to our "news and events" section, check out our calendar. You can also keep your contact information up to date by filling out our online Alumni Update Form, or emailing us at

You are a valuable resource for our current and prospective students. Please contact Bill Hayes if you are interested in speaking with current students, if you have information about sociology internship opportunities that you would like to share or if you would like to attend any of our future workshops or other departmental special events.
