Admission and Tuition Information
Gonzaga’s Summer Writing Institute is designed to nurture young writers. To achieve this, it is important to create a comfortable peer group of developing talents. The institute currently accepts rising high school juniors and seniors. Students who have not yet completed their sophomore year, and those who’ve already graduated high school, when the Institute begins in June 2008 are not eligible to apply. To receive application forms, please e-mail the Program Director, Jeffrey Dodd, at dodd@gonzaga.edu.
Admissions Procedures
A complete application to the Summer Writing Institute include four items:
o The Institute’s application form
o A writing sample consisting of 3-4 pages of poetry or 4-5 pages of fiction (or a 7- to 8-page combination of the two)
o A 300-500 word personal statement explaining what you hope to receive from attending the Institute and what you anticipate being able to contribute to your peers’ experience.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until May 1. Decisions will be communicated as they’re made, and no later than May 15.
There is no fee to apply, and the Gonzaga University Summer Writing Institute invites applications from all persons and does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, sex, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, sexual orientation, a physical or mental impairment that limits a major life activity, or any other non-merit factor in the employment, educational programs or activities which it operates.
