Volunteer Opportunities

The following are descriptions of volunteer opportunities available to graduate students through Gonzaga's Community Action and Service Learning Center (CCASL). For more information on any of these programs or to sign up for one, please visit the CCASL website.

Partners Project

The Partners Project is a literacy and tutoring program that focuses on cultural understanding. An emphasis is placed on promoting a multilingual and multicultural awareness between the Gonzaga tutors and the students.

Special Olympics

The main objective of the Special Olympics is quite simple. They provide a year-round program of sports training and competition for children and adults with mental retardation, or a closely related developmental disability. The vision is to change the world's perception of the developmentally disabled and their role in society.

Santa's Helpers

Santa's Helpers helps the underprivileged families in the Spokane community have a wonderful Christmas. The families were selected with the help of the Martin Luther King Junior Center.

Applications are available at the beginning of the school year.

Take a Stand Against Sexual Violence

Take a Stand Against Sexual Violence is a rape awareness program, started a few years ago by a CAP staff student. Take a Stand's mission is to spread awareness, as well as prevention, through the performance of ten or so monologues about sexual assault. Take a Stand performs twice a year, and welcomes anyone to join who is passionate about ending this terrible crime.

April's Angels

Help rebuild/refurbish a local school in Spokane. Similar to Christmas in April and Rebuilding Together.

Campus Kitchens

Prepare food for homeless/low-income families on campus twice a week.
