Office of the Dean
The Dean administers a college of teachers and scholars, the historic heart of the University.
Gonzaga University belongs to a long and distinguished tradition of humanistic, Catholic, and Jesuit education. This tradition comes to life in our common core curriculum, taken by all undergraduates. The College of Arts & Sciences, through its academic departments, provides this core curriculum.
This core curriculum lays down a student’s path toward a worthy goal – becoming a truly educated person. All people think; most can express themselves effectively in speech and writing. But the educated person has forged connections with many past and present cultures, come to understand a wider world, and honed skills to a fine point.
And at Gonzaga University graduates have been fired with compassion for others, with a strong thirst for justice and with a yearning to make a difference.
The College does more. Departmental majors and fields of concentration lead students to degrees in the humanities and the sciences. Particular expertise adds depth to general studies. Our students leave Gonzaga well prepared for immediate careers or for further studies. Most importantly, they leave as good and caring people.
