Gonzaga's Art Department allows students to investigate avariety of visual experiences through a study of both the studioarts and art history and offers a Bachelor of Arts in Art. Studiocourses allow the student to explore the creative processesinvolved in the production of original works. Art appreciation, artsurvey and art history coursework emphasizes the role of the artistin society as well as developing a greater sense of historicalcontext.

The department is located in the Jundt Art Center and Museum. The heart of the center is a beautiful studio complex for ceramics, design, drawing, painting and printmaking. A theatre-style lecturehall provides space for art history, visiting artist lectures, andvideo/film presentations. The Jundt Art Museum provides collection, storage and exhibit areas for Gonzaga University’s permanent artcollection and the ability to not only provide exhibit space forstudent and faculty art, but changing exhibits of local, regional, national, and international artwork. The most important museum showis the annual Senior Art Exhibit in May which features the work ofour talented senior artists. The museum also maintains a printstudy room for student, faculty and community use and provides alounge overlooking the Spokane River for art receptions and relatedactivities.
