The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) verifies your student status and is widely recognized throughout the world. There is also an International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC) available. These cards provide benefits and services worldwide. More than an ID card, they also offer:
All ISIC/ITIC cards issued in the U.S. include basic travel accident insurance while traveling abroad. ISIC/ITIC insurance is the minimum recommended coverage for international travel. ISIC/ITIC benefits include:

International Student ID Card (ISIC)
The ISIC is available for purchase for students attending a non-sponsored program, traveling individually, or students from area colleges and universities. Students must be age 12 or older and currently enrolled as a full-time degree seeking student at an accredited institution. Continuing education, language school, and non-degree seeking students are not eligible. The ISIC is valid one year from the date of issue.
Purchasers of the ISIC through GU Study Abroad need to follow the steps listed below:
- Fill out application and print.
- Submit payment of $22.00 for card online via CASHNet
- Bring application, photo (2x2" headshot on white background), copy of your CASHNet receipt, and proof of student status (ID card or current transcript) to GU Study Abroad office (323 E Boone Ave).
- Your card will be made in our office, generally at the time your application is turned in and approved.
For those outside of the Spokane area, the ISIC is available for purchase through www.myisic.com.
Students participating with a Gonzaga Sponsored Program are automatically issued an ISIC card as part of program costs. This card will be valid for one year from the date of issue. Students receiving this card as part of their program will be given an application to complete and return to Gonzaga Study Abroad.
International Teacher ID Card (ITIC)
The ITIC is available for purchase for teachers and faculty from the GU community and area colleges and universities who are traveling individually. Full-time teachers or faculty teaching for the current academic year at an accredited institution are eligible for the ITIC. Teachers/faculty must be employed a minimum of 18 hours per week for a minimum of one academic year. The ITIC is valid one year from the date of issue.
Purchasers of the ITIC through GU Study Abroad need to follow the steps listed below:
- Fill out application and print.
- Submit payment of $22.00 for card online via CASHNet

ISIC Premium Upgrade
Cardholders who've been issued an ISIC/ITIC through GU Study Abroad have the option of upgrading the basic travel accident insurance, a benefit of the card, to a premium version of the insurance. The premium upgrade increases the amounts of coverage for the travel accident insurance, and includes a $2000 personal effect coverage benefit (ISIC Basic does not have this benefit). The cost of the upgrade is $50.00 and paid online via CASHNet. Cardholders will be notified with a confirmation email from GU Study Abroad that their upgrade has been accepted. The issued ISIC/ITIC card and number remain the same after the upgrade. We only upgrade ISIC/ITIC that have been issued through the GU Study Abroad Office.
The Premium Upgrade must be processed PRIOR to traveling abroad but by the dates listed below to allow time for processing between GU Study Abroad and the ISIC Issuing Office.
- Spring 2012: Submit upgrade by December 31, 2011
- Summer 2012: Submit upgrade by April 30, 2012
- Fall 2012/Year 2012/13: Submit upgrade by August 31, 2012
- Spring 2013: Submit upgrade by December 31, 2012
